Condolence From: Patricia Whitley
Condolence: I am so very sorry to hear of Betty's passing. As you may know she and my mother, Ethel, had been friends since they met in Arlington when my mother was 13. They remained friends and "kept in touch" through the years by cards, gifts, baked goods, and visits. As a child, I remembered looking forward to Betty's cookies every Christmas. I also remembered visiting in California and going to a Swap Meet with your dad and you guys. I was fortunate enough to visit with your mother a couple of times during her last years. I had a delightful visit with her in July and we caught up on "old times"! She promised to get me my mom's recipe for Fruitcake cookies, as I had lost it and knew they were one of her "favorites" my mom mailed her at Christmas time. She made sure she found me this recipe and I received it the end of September. I had planned to visit with her when I am in California for Christmas.
If there is one thing I know, she loved her boys and she was very proud of both of you! She really was thankful for all you did for her and expressed that to me many times.
God bless you all!

Condolence From: Dick and Jane Harris
Condolence: I loved Betty like a mother. She was one of my most treasured friends. We have great memories from our days as neighbors in Harbor City. She was the first person to take care of our daughter Holly shortly after she was born. Betty had special Christmas Eve gatherings and made the very best eggnog!! Her house was a favorite for our kids to visit on Halloween. She convinced me to take a sabbatical when she was the secretary at Taper Avenue. Giving good advice and being a good listener was one of the many things Betty did so well. We remained friends after we both moved from Harbor City, I remember fondly the delicious lunches she made for Mary and I when we visited her in Murrieta. I will miss her so much! Dick and I send our thoughts and prayers to the family.

Condolence: I am so sorry for your loss. Even though I did not know Betty personally, I know the heartache of losing a loved one in death. The Bible tells of a wonderful promise for all of our loved ones who have passed. At John 5:28,29 it says, "the hour is coming when all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." We have the assurance that we can be reunited with our loved ones who have passed away, and live in a world where there will be true peace on earth. (Isaiah 11:9) I hope this brings you some measure of comfort during this difficult time.
