Obituary for Mary Teresa Scolaro (Martinez)

Mary Teresa Scolaro (Martinez)
Mary was born in San Antonio, Texas to Filomena and Felix Martinez. She had two older brothers, Felix Jr. and Rudolfo (Rudy). Even as an adult, she was referred to as “baby” by her family.
She met her love at age 19, Victor Francis Scolaro and they were married November 3, 1962. Together they raised three children in Costa Mesa Jacqueline, David and Daniel. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family with all her heart and never missed an opportunity to tell them.
Mary was a beautiful woman with a beautiful smile. She had a loud and joyful laugh that was recognized by all who knew her. If Mary was in the room, you would know by her laugh alone. She loved to get together with family and friends, always ready to have a good time.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband. They would often get into the car with no idea where they were headed and just “take a drive” then ending up in a various interesting places.
Mary also enjoyed “crafting” and rubber-stamping beautiful cards. She worked as a bi-lingual teacher’s aide in an elementary school. She truly loved children.
Her most treasured times were spent with her grandchildren. She loved all of them equally even though distance made it difficult to see them as often as she would have liked. Mary had 8 grandchildren: Lukas, Tyler, Katelyn, Emily (with her in heaven), Arik, Aaron, Kiyana and Christopher. She was a wonderful grandma (Nana) and loved to be a part of their lives whenever possible.
Mary adored her dogs “Bella” and “Aimee”. Bella was always at her side and would bark to alert Victor whenever she was feeling ill from her battle with diabetes.
Throughout Mary’s life she was making new friends while treasuring the old. She will be missed on this earth and we will rest knowing that she is with God in heaven.
It is not “goodbye” rather “see you later”.

The Memorial service will take place in our Chapel, all details can be found on this website.
