Obituary for Carlos Daniel Myers

Carlos Daniel Myers
Carlos Daniel “Dan” Myers of Menifee passed away on February 8, 2018 at the age of 79. Born February 23, 1938 in DeSoto, IL, Dan graduated from high school in 1955. He joined the Navy shortly after graduation, serving three years on the USS Lexington. After completing his tour of duty Dan settled in Seattle where he met his first wife, Ruth; they had two children, Stephen and Susan.

It was in Seattle that Dan began his forty year career as a Sheet Metal Worker, working wherever the job took him, including Seattle, the South Pacific, Oregon, Alaska, and California. In 1984 he moved to the Lake Elsinore area. There Dan began attending Hope Lutheran Church where he met Delores Steinwand, whom he would eventually marry.

At the age of 65 Dan earned his Associate in Science – Real Estate degree from Mt. San Jacinto College and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Society.

Throughout his life Dan was passionate about many activities, and earned both his Scuba Diving Certification and Private Pilot license. He enjoyed tennis, swimming, camping, and waterskiing. Dan also loved to create things, including a wooden bean bag couch, metal “steamer” trunks, bird houses and a tin man. He had a knack for vegetable gardening, building his own raised beds.

Dan is proceeded in death by his parents Carlos and Julia Myers and siblings Jim, Jo, Christine, David, Carlann, and Carol Jane. He is survived by wife Delores, daughter Susan, son Steve and daughter-in-law May, and granddaughters Savannah and Sabrina. He will be greatly missed by siblings Fran, Bea, Dick and Linda Kay, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018, 3:30pm at Hope Lutheran Church, 29043 Vallejo Ave, Temecula, CA 92592. He will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
