Dear Family and Friends,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved father, Prosper Placide. Prosper, age 71, left us on September 3, 2024, in Temecula, California. He was not just a father, but also a cherished grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Prosper, affectionately known as Pèpè, was born on October 17, 1952, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Labonte Placide and Manite Ruculée. Throughout his life, he was admired for his exceptional personality, unwavering kindness, and inventive spirit. His dedication to helping others and his commitment to his family set him apart.
He had a passion for Haitian music, soccer, and action movies. Prosper firmly believed in the power of education and tirelessly supported his family and friends in pursuing their dreams. His presence had a profound impact on all our lives, and his generosity and readiness to lend a helping hand will always be remembered.
He is survived by siblings: Marie Florence Placide, Chrislene Placide, Alourde Placide, Lionel Placide, Fabienne Placide, Ketie Placide, LaFortune Placide, Andre Placide, Louis Bernard Placide, Yves Placide, Nixon Placide, Ricardo Placide, Moise Placide, François Placide, Lina Placide and Jean Claude Placide. By his children Gregory Placide, Valerie Placide and Coeurby Placide, his grandchildren Hayden Placide and Giaeleen Placide, his daughter-in-law Darlène Jean Baptiste Placide and his son-in-law Jean Gérard Junior Joseph. He was preceded in death by his wife Mireille Lormeus Placide.
Prosper’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, attending all their school events, and nurturing their growth. His deepest desire was to return to his childhood neighborhood in Haiti, a place close to his heart.
As we mourn the loss of Prosper, let us also celebrate the legacy of love and compassion that he leaves behind. He will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
