Russ was born on September 29, 1939 in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He moved to the San Fernando Valley in Southern California with his wife where he helped raise a daughter, and a son. He studied to learn the Electrical Trade, and worked as an Electrician for UCLA, Anheuser-Bush, and Hollywood Park Race Track. Russ joined The Brotherhood of Freemasons before moving to Murrietta where he, and his wife built their home in the French Valley together. He joined the Temecula Catalina Island Masonic Lodge No. 524, and was elected “Worshipful Master” for 1997. Russ was a much loved, and well respected member of his community.
Russ held a very accomplished 49 year tenure in the Freemasons, he loved planning, and hosting the annual Masonic BBQ gatherings at his home, he also loved baseball, country/western music, playing his guitars, fishing, shooting, hunting, woodworking in his shop, and most of all, spending time with his family at his home, and property that he loved so much. He was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. With a heart that was too big for his chest, the positive impact that Russ had on people, and the friendships that he made throughout his lifetime, is immeasurable. Being a believer, there is great comfort in knowing that he is now beginning his eternal life with God in Heaven. He will be severely missed, and his “Good Morning” hugs in the nook will forever be felt, and never, ever be forgotten.
Russ is survived by his wife Ruth, his daughter Charisse, his son Russ, his grandson Michael, his granddaughter Brooke, his sister Connie, his sister Pam, and his four nephews, and two nieces.
Russ is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy, his sister Dorth, his uncle Joe, his uncle Bill, his aunt Peggy, and his two nephews.
In his honor, a Masonic Memorial is to be held for Russ at the Menifee Valley Lodge No. 289 on Saturday August 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM. 27221 McCall Blvd, Menifee, CA 92585
