George Palmer, a beloved husband, father, Master Chief, and proud Navy veteran, left this world on May 23,2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love.

George was born to James Elmer Palmer and Elizabeth Underwood Palmer. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 30 years, including both active duty and reserves, and served during the Vietnam War. Through hard work, dedication, and perseverance, he achieved the rank of Master Chief. His distinguished military service was recognized with numerous honors, including the Navy Good Conduct Award, Navy Achievement Medal Combat “V”, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuba), and the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.

George was happiest when he was building, repairing, and creating. He enjoyed remodeling homes, working on cars, and showing dogs. There was little he couldn’t figure out how to fix.

Those who knew George will remember not only his skills and determination, but also his sense of humor. He loved to joke around, make people laugh, and bring a smile to those around him. He also had a love for country music. His warm heart and playful personality will be dearly missed.
Above all, George was a man of integrity whose word could be trusted and whose actions reflected his character. He was a devoted and exemplary father, always guiding, supporting, and caring for his children with unwavering love. He was also a loving husband who cherished his family deeply. He will be remembered for his strength, honesty, generosity, laughter, and the love he shared with those closest to him.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Helen, and daughter, Stacey. He was preceded in death by his sons, George Palmer Jr. and Brandon Curtis Palmer, and his stepsons, Dale Reeder and Thomas Reeder.
A private burial will be held at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery in Waynesville, North Carolina.
