Christopher Joseph McLain, 65, of Murrieta, CA, passed away peacefully in his home on January 14, 2025 after a short cancer battle. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Born on February 20, 1959 in New Mexico, Chris was the life of the party and had the ability to light up a room. One of his greatest gifts was to comfort you in your time of need by saying something off the cuff that would make your stomach hurt with laughter. Everything he did in life, he did it with heart and soul. Chris was well known for his voracious appetite and loved his. sweet treats.
Chris worked with one of the first employees in the Public Works department for the City of Murrieta. Chris, along with an amazing group, helped build this “Gem of the Valley” into what it is today. His last service to the city was working as a Public Works Inspector. Outside of work and family, he fulfilled one of his greatest dreams, at 44 years old when he purchased a 1969 Porsche 912. Chris loved golf and while on vacation he met his favorite pro golfer, Seve Ballesteros. Chris said his best gift of all was when his family surprised him at Petco Park with tickets to see Paul McCartney – another dream fulfilled.
Chris is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Gracie McLain. He was a devoted father to Nicole and Andrew. Chris is preceded in death by his mother Isabel, Uncle Nori, Aunt Helen, and his grandparents, Honorio & Ysabel Vega. Chris will be remembered for his love of his family, golf, NASCAR, Tour de France, sense of humor, and his laugh.

Daddy, no words express how much our family misses you. You left us with the best memories and laughs. You were an amazing dad, and I looked up to you in every way. I will miss lounging around the house and you cracking our toes, your funny comments, my buffet partner in crime, the smile on your face when I'd declutter the house, the sound of NASCAR on your TV, your candy stash, but more importantly, I'll miss everything about you. God blessed us with you and you were truly the best. I love you!
