Coy Eugene Wharton, 80, of Temecula, CA, passed away peacefully on September 3 after a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure and numerous other illnesses.
Coy was born on October 26, 1942, to Coy and Goldie Wharton in Long Beach, CA, then moved to Peoria, Arizona, with his family, where he lived until just after he celebrated his 80th birthday. He built his first car with his father at age 14. After graduating from Peoria High School in 1961, he went on to join the Army Reserves. He also went to work for Sperry Rand and worked on gyroscopes. He then married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jessie Jean Brannon, in 1964, and at the time of his death, they were just a few months shy of their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Then, a few years after their wedding, his love of the outdoors called him to work on the family farm and ranch, where he found the other love of his life, farming. He farmed cotton, alfalfa, wheat, and barley until they retired in 2017.
Coy and Jessie (or Gene and Jeanne as their friends and family called them) would go on to have their only daughter, Rochelle Ann, in 1969. Coy was a very devoted Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Uncle. He loved God, his family, grandchildren, farming, fishing, camping, bowling, music, America, and any movie starring John Wayne. He could fix anything from your car, radio, and computer, and often did for family and friends. He was quiet but talkative if you caught him in the right moments. He was a good man, an Old-Fashioned kind of man. He was a patriot. He was quite a gentleman unless there was a need for him not to be. He was exceptionally strong and fought hard for many years to stay with his family; now, he is at peace with our Lord. There are no proper words to sum up the life of this incredible man except to say that this special man was a blessing to all who knew him.
Coy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jessie; his daughter, Rochelle; Son-in-Law, Daniel; his granddaughter, Kassandra; his grandson, Drew; his sister Phyllis; and numerous other family he held dear to his heart.
