Ernest “Ernie” L. Leuenberger, 76, of Canyon Lake, CA passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Loma Linda University Hospital, Murietta, CA. He was born November 23, 1949 in Camden, NY, a son of Ernest C. and Elizabeth M. Leuenberger and was a graduate of Camden High School. He completed an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at Clarkson University and a graduate degree at Stanford University. He worked in catalysis in the petroleum refining industry for over 50 years. He also enjoyed gardening, listening to audio books, travel and his family.
Surviving is a wife, Louise D. Leuenberger, Canyon Lake, CA, two stepsons, Gerald & Mary George, MD, Timothy George & Judy Blaire, NJ, two step grandchildren, Lillian and Dominic George and one step great granddaughter, Zia, PA. Also surviving are 5 siblings, Robert & Dawn, Taberg, NY, Gary & Nga, Worcester, MA, Ronald, Lakewood, OH, James & Marlene, Milford, NJ, Ann & Richard Price, Cicero, NY, and 12 Nieces and Nephews. Ernie was predeceased by a brother, Richard and a sister, Linda Smith.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murietta Valley Funeral Home, Murietta, CA and Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Camden, NY. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Camden, NY. Time and date for public calling hours and a Memorial service in Camden will be announced at a later date.
