James Dennis Sage1938-2023
Jim was born in Mason City, Iowa to Beverly and James E. Sage. His father died in battle during WWII when Jim was only 5 years old.
Jim attended Clear Lake High School, then went on to further his education at Iowa State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in English. Shortly after, Jim moved to Northern California with his then wife, Pat, and firstborn daughter, Barbara. He was successful in the mortgage lending business, while his family grew with three more daughters. Working fulltime, Jim also pursued a law degree at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and became a successful real estate attorney. After relocating to Southern California, Jim became Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Great Western Bank.Divorced from his first wife, Jim later married Chris whom he met on a sailing trip. They shared a love of traveling and sailing and sailed all over the world before settling down in Vermont. After many cold winters, they decided to move back to Southern California where they lived happily with their yellow lab Max – The Wonder Dog – enjoying champagne in their magnificent custom library with over 2,000 books.
A month after celebrating his 84th birthday, Jim died peacefully in his home after a short battle with cancer.
