Joan Marie McCarty (1958–2025)

Joan Marie McCarty, lovingly known as “Joanie” and “Auntie Joan,” passed away on August 2, 2025, in Murrieta, California. Born on February 24, 1958, in Los Angeles to Paul and Lucille McCarty, she was the cherished sister of Karen Alonzo and Dale Shawn.

She built a long career as a project manager with AT&T, and her life was full of travel, theatre, music, and joyful gatherings with family and friends.

A devoted sister, aunt, and friend, Joan was also the keeper of her family’s stories and memories. Even while facing a difficult illness, she met life with courage, grace, and unwavering love.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers who provided comfort and care during her final days. Joan’s warmth, laughter, and love will be remembered always.
