Lonnie was the Son of Lester F. McGinnis and Nellie Louella Petersen McGinnis. He was born in Everett, Washington on November 21, 1947.
Lonnie worked in the Corrugated Industry for 44 years which he retired from in 2012. One of his Sons followed in his footsteps working in the same industry. He loved going camping in the desert and mountains with his family and grandchildren. He spent countless hours walking the desert with his grandchildren, teaching them how to ride a quad or a sand rail he owned. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart and would always brag to others on how proud he was of each and every one of them. He also loved watching and cheering for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers football team. He tried and tried to convince his grandchildren to become a “Steeler” fan but no one ever converted. One of his last favorite pass times was being able to watch his great grandchildren play Little League Baseball games as he would cheer them on. He also loved watching his Western shows and the News, his interest in politics were strong too. Later in age, Lonnie started collecting coins. He was very proud of his small collection.A Memorial Service will be held June 23rd, 2023 and Reception to follow.

You probably didn’t know that Lonnie had a nickname. That nickname was George short for George of the jungle, he got this name by playing softball he was chasing down the fly ball. Can’t remember if he caught the ball but when he did catch was the tree yes that’s right he ran into the tree, and therefore his teammate start calling him George the jungle.

Lonnie like to go shooting in jawbone Canyon you should tell me a Lotta good stories, he like to race his car he had a 50 Chevy with a 409 with three deuce carburetors the paint job wasn’t very good, but he used to race really nice looking cars should erase the Corvette. One night blew its doors off and took a spot at the Jack-in-the-Box in Carson. He told me he never forget after he beat that car when he pulled in the parking lot, everybody was standing on their cars and looking to see what he had under that hood, he could see because he didn’t have a hood, he told me before he raced the car he pulled in. There wasn’t a parking spot. Somebody runs up to the car and that tells him if you wanna spot here you gotta prove yourself, and he said let’s go.

During Christmas one year, Lonnie asked the grandkids to give “Papa” a kiss but not thinking the boys ran to their “Papa” which is Mark, so that day he was promoted to “Papa Dos” so kids wouldn’t get confused on which “Papa” we were talking about or to. He wore and loved his title very well

We were inseparable where he was I was where I was he was , it was always like that from day one we pretty much liked the same things . When our baby's came we would argue who was going to feed them bathe them change them because we both wanted to do it I never had to ask him to help with our boys cause he loved doing anything for them . He would always be a coach for their teams as well as for our grandkids , he would do anything for our grandbabies and our grandbabies knew it I remember our little granddaughter Ashley which he called princess would order him at nite Papa go make me eggs and it could be in the middle of the nite and he would go in the kitchen and make her eggs or what ever she wanted . He was a great hubby , dad , and papa to his 6 grandkids and 10 great grandchildren.I will miss him with all my heart for the rest of my life after almost 60 years it's gonna be one of the hardest things I've had to deal with but I will be ok cause I know someday we will be together again for ever ❤️
