Muriel Coleman
Muriel was born in Los Angeles to Solomon and Charlie Velma Jones. She was the fifth of six children.
From a young age, Muriel had a passion for music and loved to dance. She had a sweet tooth, especially for ice cream, and found great joy in baking and cooking. She even made fruit preserves from the trees in her own backyard.
Muriel graduated from Manual Arts High School, and shortly afterward, she married the love of her life, Philip Coleman. They shared 66 wonderful years of marriage before his passing. Together, they raised two sons while Muriel built a successful career as a cosmetologist. Her talent and warm spirit led her to become the owner of two thriving beauty salons. Muriel’s skill and her genuine love for people made her a natural in her profession welcoming to all, she never met a stranger and cultivated many lasting friendships over the years.
Faith played a central role in Muriel’s life. She loved serving in her church, where she sang in the choir, danced with the praise team, and participated actively in women’s ministry. Muriel will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community.
Preceding her in eternity were her husband, Philip Sr., and two brothers, Clarence and Marvin.
She is survived by three sisters: Rela, LaVialle, and Audrey; two sons: Philip and Eric; six grandchildren: Natasha, Dionne, Alicia, Ashley, Eric II, and Cameron; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Muriel was deeply devoted to her family. She lived her life with passion and love.
