Raymond Earl Jackson Obituary

Raymond Earl Jackson Sr. was born on November 26, 1947, in Moss Point, Mississippi to the late AT Jackson and Ophelia Jackson. He was one of eleven children.

Under his mother’s care he attended First Baptist Church in Moss Point at an early age. He attended Magnolia elementary school, Magnolia High, and finished at Carver High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. During the Vietnam War he served his time in Thailand, Ft. Worth Texas, and Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He earned an Associates of Metallurgy Degree at El Camino College. He had a career building aircraft at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA, Rockwell in El Segundo, CA, and as a Planner with McDonnell Douglas/Boeing Aircraft in Long Beach, CA where his official Planner stamp can still be seen on the wing tip of C17 Airplanes.

Raymond was a loving, doting husband, father, uncle, brother, and son. He had an infectious smile that resonated to others and a lifetime of fun times and memories as a family man and friend. Whatever he could do to help others, he would do. He loved to visit family and friends all over the country including Atlanta, Georgia, Akron, Ohio, and Moss Point, Mississippi. He also loved taking summer trips to Detroit, Michigan, Niagara Falls and Windsor, Canada, Playas de Tijuana, Mexico, Poughkeepsie and Corning, New York. He also spent time living in New Orleans and Shreveport, Louisiana, and San Diego, CA. He had a special place in his heart for the Riley Fountain Liddell Family Reunions and every opportunity he got to get together with his extended family he would be there.

On June 24, 2024, he was called home by his heavenly Father. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife Willie Mae Jackson of Long Beach, CA; Son Raymond Earl Jackson, Jr. of Riverside, California; Daughters: Dr. Rozalie Vonszelda Jackson, MD of Murrieta, CA and Monique Inez Jackson Leverette (Christopher) of Spring Hill, Florida; Grandsons : Mario Shantavious Leverette (Kailynn) of Clearwater, Florida, Danyael Jacari Leverette and Julian Mie’kel Leverette of Spring Hill, Florida; Brother: William Charles Jackson of Bakersville, CA; Sisters: Fannie Royster of Corona, CA, Gaynell Padgett of Moss Point, Mississippi, Bunnie Dean Jones (Wesley) of Moss Point, Mississippi, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Amos, brothers Watkin, Alvin, and Harvester and his sisters Venora Oliver and Beverly Dubose.
