Rinaldo was born on May 23, 1928 in Ortona, in the Abruzzo Region of Italy, on the Adriatic Coast. His parents were Concetta and Gerardo Babore. Rinaldo was the youngest of the five siblings. The others were Regina, Tommaso, Fioravante, and Rizziero.
From a young age Rinaldo learned that hard work, perseverance and respect for family, friends and acquaintances were his principles to live by. When Rinaldo was 22 years old he embarked on a journey to Venezuela after the devasting WWII in Italy. Venezuela proved to be a great success for him but, unfortunately, he decided to leave during political unrest and immigrated to California.
In California he met the love of his life, Mildred. They worked tirelessly
in the Italian deli and restaurant business and managed to build a home in Valley Center, California where they lived comfortably for many years. Sadly, Mildred passed away in January 2000.
In 2015 Rinaldo went to live in San Marcos. He enjoyed his apartment in San Marcos. Then after several years and declining health, Rinaldo moved to the Linden in Murrieta/Ivy Park where he enjoyed the activities offered especially dancing with some of the residents until recently. He was truly happy these past few years and participated in many activities. Rinaldo made new friends who encouraged and supported him to the end.
Many obstacles were placed before Rinaldo over the years. He told many memorable stories of his failures and successes. He often commented though, that “God always looked after him and he was very thankful.”
Rinaldo is survived by his brother Rizziero in New York City, and numerous relatives in Italy, Canada, United States, and Japan.
Rinaldo’s family especially nieces Cecilia Cupido and Milvia Nazarko take this opportunity to thank the staff and residents in Ivy Park and Reliable Hospice for all their generous help and evident respect for Rinaldo during his stay. Many thanks to Mike and Shannon Sykes, Ben Rinner and Kathy Lopez, friends who gave a helping hand when family could not be present.
Rest in Peace Rinaldo
