Ronald Stephen Perry

Ronald (Ron) Stephen Perry passed away peacefully on the morning of August 3rd, 2025, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his three daughters, his grandchildren, great granddaughter and countless other friends and family members whose lives were touched by Ron and his constant companion—his acoustic guitar.

Ron attended high school in Grove City, Ohio, and shortly thereafter moved to California. He became well known in the Los Angeles music scene during the 1970s and played with the likes of Johnny Mathis and Merle Haggard during his career. It was during this period that Ron met his first wife Maria. Their relationship lasted for many years and produced three loving daughters. Overjoyed at having three new band members, Ron wasted no time in beginning the musical training of his three daughters, all of whom continue to this day to have a deep love for music and singing.

As Ron’s daughters were growing up, he decided to switch careers to help support his family and went back to school to seek employment in the Fallbrook school system. Ron had become fluent in Spanish through his relationship with Maria and felt that his talent for music and his bilingual abilities could be put to good use for the students in the Fallbrook community. During his years working at various Fallbrook schools, Mr. Perry influenced many lives and touched the hearts of many young people, some of whom have stayed in touch with Ron for decades. But for anyone that knows Ron they know that his true passion in life was his ministry and spreading the word of God around the world through his music.

In 2007, Ron and Linda were married and shortly thereafter established a home in Wildomar. Both Ron and Linda already knew the joys of having children and grandchildren, and they happily joined their love for God and their families together. Ron and Linda spent the next 18 years joined at the hip, caring for parents, playing with grandchildren, and visiting their favorite spots, such as Moonlight Beach and Lake Arrowhead.

A service celebrating the life of Ronald Perry will be held on Sunday, August 17th, 2025, at 2:00pm, at Bethel Christian Church, located at 2425 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92503. The service is open to all, and Ron’s family warmly invites anyone whose life was touched by Ron to come and celebrate his life with them.

My dad was a man of God. He gave his whole life to following Christ and bringing others to know Jesus as their personal savior I thank God that my dad brought me up to know the word of God and instilled Godly values in me. I feel peace in my heart, knowing that my dad was in heaven, sharing his beautiful voice and singing with the angels. I’m looking forward to seeing you again someday Dad I love you.

The first time I had the pleasure of meeting Ron was when myself and two other Pastors along with Ron embarked on a 12 state 27 prison ministry tour from Ca. to New York. We traveled together the four of us in a motor home and ministered in 27 different prisons with us preaching and Ron doing the music. Ron would so masterfully set the tone in each service and we saw hundreds of soul won for Jesus Christ. These venues went from nice Chapels to Chain gangs. Ron was a anointed "Song Fixer" for the lord he would take an old popular song and fix it EX. the song Pretty Woman he would fix it by changing the lyrics to "Holy spirit Fall on me" or the Song I want to Hold your Hand to "I want to Praise your Name" all of these songs were known by the inmates so when Ron would sing them with the fixed words they would al stand up and sing along with the new fixed lyrics. Ron made everyone Happy wherever he went thus HAPPY DAYS Ministries was just what God ordered for Ron's powerful ministry outreach. After this outstanding ministry outreach Ron and I along with my family became very close to Ron. My mother adored Ron like a Son they would talk often. I had Ron in as a guest for concerts in a number of Prisons where I was the Chaplain and also some churches where I was involved with as an associate Pastor. Regardless of the venue the Spirit of God always fell on Ron and many great movements of the LORD WOULD TAKE PLACE. I will truly miss my friend and brother and I he and my mom and Dad are rejoicing together in Jesus's presence.

I first meet Ron in 1979 when I and 2 other Pastors along with Ron embarked on a 12 State 27 prison nation wide Prison ministry outreach tour. I was so impressed with the free peacefulness of Ron's spirit and his love for God. The four of us traveled together in a motor home from Ca. through 12 States and minister in 27 different Prisons ending in New York. We would take turns preaching and Ron would do all the worship music. Ron was awesome. Ron was what I called a song fixer He would take old popular songs and fix them to glorify God by changing the lyrics to praising the Lord. I remember when we were in Illinois at Menard State Prison where we had some great services with a large attendance of inmates and Ron went up to do the worship before we preached and he began to play the music introduction to the song "Pretty Woman" of which the inmates new very well and were even beginning to sing the song. However when Ron started singing "Holy Spirit'" instead of "pretty Woman" the inmates rose to their feet and joined in singing the song with Ron's new version of the song and ended with a standing ovation. What a glorious sight to see the response to Ron's Worship Song . Ron set the table perfectly for us to preach the Gospel and the response was outstanding many men received Christ in that service. At another service in New York at Sing Sing State Prison Ron went up and played the music introduction to the song "I want t to Hold your hand" by the Beatles the inmates again were very familiar with the song and ready to sing but when Ron started singing his fixed version of " I want to Praise your name" the inmates all stood up and loudly sang along with Ron and ended with a standing ovation. Once again Ron's anointing set the table for God to move on their hearts. many men responded to the altar call in that service to receive Christ. After this marvelous trip Ron and myself became kindred spirits along with my entire family especially my mother who loved Ron like he was her own son. Ron was a guest worship leader and concert guest with me in a number of venues through out the years especially in the prisons where I was the Chaplain. Ron I will personally miss you but I know you're up with my Mom and Dad in Happy Days in Heaven.
