I met Sherman and Danesha when Sherman wanted to register for a 10-week beginning quilting series in 2000. Sherman didn’t mind that most of his blocks were either too big or too small. He was proud of his work. He enjoyed the classroom experience so much, he took the 10-week series eight times. Years later, he came to see me for private lessons and for help with a project he was working on, with difficulty, through a local quilt shop. Sherman was never just a student. He and Danesha quickly became cherished friends of mine. Sherman and his unique obsession with fabric always made me smile. I will miss him.
