His legacy lives on in those he served.

William Calvin Hughes passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025. He was born April 4, 1960 in San Francisco, California to William Evans Hughes and Jeriann Marks. He was married to Natalie Clegg on June 27, 1981 in the Salt Lake Temple. Calvin received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and became a world-class marketer, spending his career making friends and blessing lives. He worked in the insurance and banking industry for 40 years and most recently established Hughes Agency. Like his father, Calvin loved to write; he enjoyed sharing poetry and reflections on eternal principles, always striving to uplift and teach others through his talents and creations.

Calvin dedicated his life to Jesus Christ.  As a young man he served a full time mission in the Boston Area. He was a faithful church member and always willing to go above and beyond in Christ-like service. His faith was the heart of his family and personal life, guiding him to serve others, study and teach eternal principles, and commit himself wholly to the Savior and His work.

Calvin was known for his faith, consistent sincerity, kindness, and dedication to lifelong learning. He found joy in sharing his deep convictions and creative talents with all he met. His presence blessed the lives of those around him and his legacy lives on in those he served.

He is survived by his mother, Jeriann Hughes, his beloved wife Natalie and their six children: Joe; Jordan (Amber), Bailey, Austin, Fred, and Sadie, and eleven grandchildren. He was the oldest of seven siblings and always cherished the role of guiding and supporting his extended family. Calvin treasured his family above all, faithfully leading and loving as a husband and father.

Funeral services will be held November 15th at 2:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 18220 Dexter Ave, Lake Elsinore, CA 92532.

I worked with Cal as an American National company representative. He always treated me like a teammate and a friend. I admired his strength as he recovered from his health issues and got back to work. I am glad that I got to know him.

I'm so sorry to hear of Cal's passing. I had the privilege of working with him at American National. He was always so kind and was willing to help provide insights from an agent perspective. I will miss working with him. My prayers and condolences to the family.

He was an extremely talented writer. He had insight into gospel principles and was blessed with an uncanny ability to bring them into everyday life and ordinary situations. He was so kind and had a friendly smile and twinkle eyes when he smiled. He moved from our neighborhood for many years ago but I still remember his flirty relationship with Natalie. They loved deeply. They had a home where Christ dwelled. His testimony of the gospel was strong and unwavering. I’m grateful to have known him. Love you Natalie! Hugs to everyone!

Dad used to use his motorcycles to take some of us to school and I fondly remember when he and I went for a ride in sandals

I worked with Cal at balboa insurance for several years He was a true pleasure to work with as he was a hard worker but also a lot of fun! He was a prankster who got along with everyone! He spoke freely about his beloved wife and children and was very proud of his wonderful family. Anyone who knew him at all also knew of his deep faith, kindness and generosity. Cal left a lasting impact on all who knew him! I am unable to attend his service but please know that I am praying for your family at this time of sorrow! God bless you all and rest peacefully, dear friend!
