William Joseph Robinson

William J Robinson, a.k.a. Bill, Billy Joe and Robbie, passed away February 1, 2025 just shy of the age of 84. He bravely fought Parkinson’s disease for the past 10 years and died from complications of the disease in Murrieta, California, where he lived with his wife Mary.

Bill was born on February 7, 1941 in Long Beach California. He was raised along with his brother Darrell, in Long Beach and Daggett, California. Bill often mentioned riding bikes with his brother to the swimming pool and the movie theater on the base.

Bill joined the US Navy and served his country honorably from 1958 to 1967. He was stationed at the Naval Air Facility China Lake, US NAS Miramar and aboard the USS Constellation. After the Navy, Bill started his career with the department of defense at the Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow in 1969 as a planner/packaging specialist at the Nebo facility. His career spanned several agencies within the DOD with assignments in DCAS Phoenix,USISC Fort Huachuca, 8th Army, South Korea and 25th Infantry Division Schofield Barracks Hawaii, where he retired as Director of Logistics.
Bill and Mary were married on Valentine’s Day in 1975. They met at Linda‘s Cantina in Barstow California. There were rumors the marriage was doomed due to meeting at a bar. The marriage made it two weeks shy of 50 years!

Bill enjoyed working in his garage and around the house. He taught himself to be a very good handyman by actually reading books (there was no Internet). He rebuilt his uncle‘s 1954 Ford F100 to a beautiful yellow show truck he called “old blue.” He enjoyed playing golf and made two Hole in ones in his lifetime. He was an adventurous man, skydived, became an open water scuba diver, and volunteered for the local Silver Lakes Citizens on Patrol , San Bernardino County Sheriff Department and for the California Highway Patrol. He also enjoyed playing pool and you could hear him say “it’s a round ball hitting a round ball.”Bill also enjoyed his dog chile, fishing and boating, playing with his grandkids, and of course, country dancing.

Bill is survive by his wife for 50 years Mary, daughter, Rebecca Nuziato, stepson, Garry Hill, brother, Darrell Robinson and five grandchildren.
Bill is being laid to rest at the Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, California .
