WINONA LOUISE STIPATI DECEMBER 10, 1937 – MAY 31, 2026
Winona Louise Stipati (nee Remsberg), 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Murrieta, California, on May 31, 2026. She was Noni, Mom, and Grammie, a cherished wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Winona was born December 10, 1937, in Tiffin, Ohio. Her family moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, in 1943. She graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1956. It was in Ypsilanti that she met the love of her life – Frank Joseph Stipati. They were married in 1956 and later moved to Chicago. In 1977, the family moved to Southern California. Winona and Frank enjoyed 60 years together until Frank’s passing in December, 2016. In addition to raising six children, Winona worked outside the home from the time she was 15 until she retired in 2015.
She was an avid reader and especially loved mysteries. She also enjoyed watching mysteries on TV and never got tired of Murder She Wrote. But her favorite show of all time was I Love Lucy. She’d get so excited if she thought an episode was on that she’d never seen, but after a minute or two she’d say, “Oh darn. I’ve seen this one. It’s the one where Lucy . . . .” She even had an I Love Lucy themed 75th birthday party. Everyone who knew her knew that shopping was also near the top of her favorite pastimes. She couldn’t be bothered with online shopping. That wasn’t really shopping to her. It was just “buying” and not any fun at all.
Winona is survived by her sister, Linda; her children, Rosemarie Stipati, Kathleen Hoffmann (Thomas), Michele Dugard (Phillip), Frank Stipati (Susan), and Jennifer Stipati; and her grandchildren, Cassandra, Shawn, Toryn, Cody, David, and Kyle.
In addition, her great-grandchildren include Lawrence, Mo’ne, Khalil, Makayla, Graciela, Shawnee-Rose, Jasmine, Moses, Eli, Lola, Keegan, Charlotte, Odin, Frankie, Athena, as well as her great-great-granddaughter Olivia Rose.
Every holiday saw the dinner table filled not only with family, but Winona always checked to see if anyone who was “Stipati adjacent” needed a family to spend the day with. If there was, she welcomed them. She loved Christmas and, to Dad’s chagrin, always got him to put up “just one more” decoration.
Winona was preceded in death by her parents Florence and Calvin, husband Frank, daughter Victoria, great-grandson Solomon, and her sister Janet.
We will celebrate her life at 12:45 PM on July 9, 2026, at the Riverside National Cemetery located at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, California. Please arrive by 12:15.
The family requests that, instead of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
